Authorities at Port of Incheon have begun construction of the port’s first fully automated cargo terminal in Incheon, marking a major step toward modernizing port operations in South Korea.
The new terminal is designed to operate with advanced automation technologies, including automated cranes, unmanned transport vehicles, and digital cargo management systems. Once completed, the facility is expected to significantly enhance cargo handling efficiency while reducing turnaround times for vessels.
Port officials said the project aims to strengthen Incheon’s competitiveness as a logistics hub in Northeast Asia. The automated terminal will allow the port to manage increasing container volumes and improve operational safety by minimizing manual intervention in cargo handling processes.
