Kandla Container Terminal has marked a major operational milestone with the handling of its largest-ever parcel size, reinforcing its growing importance in India’s maritime logistics landscape.

The record was achieved with the vessel MV ZHONG GU YIN CHUAN, which sailed on April 8, 2026, with an exchange of 7,799 TEU. This surpasses the previous high of 6,011 TEU handled by MV ZHONG GU LAN ZHOU in January 2025, reflecting a significant leap in the terminal’s throughput capacity.

The achievement underscores the terminal’s operational efficiency and the seamless coordination among various stakeholders, including port authorities, shipping lines, and logistics partners. Industry observers note that such milestones are indicative of improved infrastructure utilisation and enhanced cargo handling capabilities.

Operating under the aegis of Deendayal Port Authority, Kandla Container Terminal continues to strengthen its role as a key gateway for EXIM cargo. The development comes at a time when global trade patterns are undergoing shifts, placing increased importance on reliable and resilient port operations.

The terminal also acknowledged the support of SeaLead and other partners, whose continued collaboration has contributed to sustaining cargo flows and ensuring trade continuity.

With rising volumes and evolving supply chain dynamics, Kandla Container Terminal is poised to play an increasingly pivotal role in facilitating international trade through India’s western coast.
