Visakha Container Terminal has reinforced its commitment to environmental sustainability with the successful rollout of the second phase of its large-scale plantation drive at Andhra University on April 7, 2026.
Building on the strong foundation of the first phase—during which 500 saplings were planted with an impressive 100 percent survival rate—the latest initiative significantly scales up efforts to develop a four-acre green belt featuring over 1,000 trees.
The plantation includes a diverse range of species such as mango, neem, kadamba, mahogany, and tabebuia. These have been carefully selected to promote biodiversity, enhance air quality, and establish a sustainable green cover across the university campus.
Notably, the initiative is expected to achieve an estimated carbon sequestration potential of over 90 tonnes of carbon dioxide annually, marking a substantial contribution towards mitigating environmental impact.
This collaborative effort between industry and academia underscores the importance of sustained, collective action in fostering a greener and more resilient future.
