Taiwan-based container carrier Evergreen Marine Corporation has expanded its West Coast South America (WCSA) network with the launch of a new PNC (Pacific North Coast) service loop, aimed at strengthening connectivity across key Latin American trade lanes.
The newly introduced loop is designed to enhance service coverage between Asia and the west coast of South America, offering improved transit times and more direct port calls. The move comes amid growing trade demand between the regions, particularly for commodities, agricultural products, and manufactured goods.
The PNC service will connect major ports in East Asia with strategic destinations along the Pacific coast of South America, enabling more efficient cargo movement and reducing reliance on transshipment hubs. This is expected to benefit exporters and importers by providing greater schedule reliability and shorter lead times.
Evergreen stated that the service expansion is part of its broader strategy to optimise its global network and respond to evolving market dynamics. The addition of the PNC loop will also enhance fleet deployment efficiency and strengthen the carrier’s competitive position in the region.
Industry observers note that carriers are increasingly fine-tuning their service networks to capture opportunities in emerging markets, particularly as supply chains continue to diversify. The WCSA region has seen rising demand in recent years, driven by trade growth in countries such as Chile, Peru, and Colombia.
The new loop is expected to support Evergreen’s long-term growth ambitions while reinforcing its presence in one of the key trade corridors linking Asia with Latin America.
