India will send around 500 export delegations across global markets to maximise opportunities arising from its expanding network of free trade agreements (FTAs), Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said. The initiative aims to help Indian exporters explore new markets, strengthen trade partnerships, and increase outbound shipments in sectors such as manufacturing, agriculture, textiles, engineering goods, and services.
Goyal said the government is working closely with export promotion councils, industry bodies, and Indian missions abroad to ensure businesses fully leverage preferential market access under recently signed and proposed FTAs. He added that the delegations would focus on boosting exports, attracting investments, and enhancing India’s global trade competitiveness.
The minister also clarified that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent remarks were not directed against business travel, but were intended to encourage efficiency and productivity . Goyal emphasized that international business engagement remains essential for trade expansion, investment promotion, and strengthening India’s economic ties with partner countries.
