NITI Aayog convened a high-level meeting chaired by Dr. Joram Aniya to deliberate on the establishment of the Institute for Transforming Arunachal Pradesh (ITA), a proposed State-level policy think tank aimed at driving strategic planning, evidence-based policymaking, and long-term socio-economic development in Arunachal Pradesh.
The meeting was attended by Nidhi Chhibber, Sonam Chombay, Major General K. Narayanan, Programme Directors for North-Eastern States, and senior officials of NITI Aayog.
During the discussions, Sonam Chombay presented the State’s developmental roadmap, highlighting Arunachal Pradesh’s vast hydropower potential, improvements in connectivity infrastructure, emerging economic opportunities, and existing developmental challenges. The proposed ITA, to be chaired at the apex level by the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, is expected to provide policy and strategic support across multiple sectors.
Nidhi Chhibber reaffirmed NITI Aayog’s commitment to supporting the initiative through institutional assistance, technical guidance, and capacity-building support under the State Support Mission (SSM) and the Development Monitoring and Evaluation Office (DMEO).
