Visakhapatnam Multi Berth Cargo Terminal Pvt. Ltd. (VMCBTPL) has received two DHHI ship unloaders, each with a cargo handling capacity of 3,000 tonnes per hour (TPH), for deployment at Berths WQ-7 and WQ-8.

The unloaders were delivered using the Roll-on Roll-off (RoRo) method, enabling the fully assembled equipment to be directly unloaded from the vessel and mounted onto tracks. This approach significantly reduced installation time and minimized operational disruption.

According to the Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA), the handling of these oversized, fully assembled unloaders was among the most complex pilotage operations undertaken at the port. The successful execution was made possible through detailed planning and close coordination by VPA’s marine and pilotage teams.

The addition of the advanced unloaders is expected to enhance cargo handling efficiency, increase operational productivity, and strengthen overall terminal performance at VMCBTPL.
