Hapag-Lloyd has announced the omission of a scheduled call at the Port of Genoa from its MSE service, as part of an adjustment to the service’s vessel rotation.

The change means ships operating on the MSE service will temporarily bypass Genoa, requiring affected shippers to review alternative port and inland transportation arrangements for cargo moving through the Italian gateway.

Hapag-Lloyd’s latest operational adjustment could affect cargo planning for exporters and importers using Genoa as a loading or discharge point. Customers are advised to check the carrier’s latest sailing schedules and shipment-specific notifications for details on affected vessels and cargo.

Port omissions are commonly introduced by container carriers to manage operational disruptions, vessel schedules, congestion or network capacity. Such changes can influence transit times and connections across associated trade routes.

The Genoa omission highlights the continuing efforts by carriers to optimise vessel rotations and maintain schedule reliability amid changing operating conditions across European shipping networks.
