Maersk has announced a revision to its Equipment Positioning Service – Export (POE) tariff for cargo moving from Australia via Fremantle to global destinations, with the new rate set to take effect from October 2026.
Under the revised tariff, the charge for all container types delivered through Fremantle will increase from AUD 210 to AUD 234 per container. This represents an increase of AUD 24, or around 11.4%, compared with the existing rate.
Maersk said the revision is part of its efforts to maintain reliable services and competitive transit times while continuing to manage equipment positioning requirements across its network. The Equipment Positioning Service covers the costs associated with positioning containers for export movements.
The revised tariff will apply from October 1, 2026, for non-regulated countries. For regulated countries, the new rate will become effective from October 23, 2026, subject to applicable requirements and notice periods.
The change applies to the Fremantle (AUFRE) port of delivery and covers all container sizes under the specified export service. Customers moving cargo through Fremantle will therefore see the revised POE charge reflected in applicable quotations, bookings and invoices once the new tariff takes effect.
Maersk also reminded customers that inland rates and related mandatory surcharges can be checked through its online inland price lookup and tariff tools.
The adjustment comes amid continued changes to shipping costs across Australian trade lanes, as carriers revise terminal, inland and equipment-related charges in response to operating and network requirements.
