Air cargo services are set to begin shortly at Jharsuguda Airport, marking a significant step in enhancing regional logistics and trade connectivity in eastern India.

The move is expected to boost the movement of goods such as agricultural produce, industrial components, and time-sensitive shipments, providing faster access to domestic and potentially international markets. Authorities indicated that necessary infrastructure and operational arrangements are in the final stages of readiness.

With cargo operations in place, the airport is poised to emerge as a key logistics hub for western Odisha and adjoining regions, reducing dependency on distant airports and cutting transit times for exporters and businesses.

Officials highlighted that improved air freight connectivity will particularly benefit local industries, including metals, power equipment, and small-scale enterprises, by enabling more efficient supply chains and expanding market reach.

The development aligns with the government’s broader push to strengthen regional air infrastructure under initiatives aimed at improving multimodal logistics and boosting economic growth in tier-2 and tier-3 cities.

Once operational, the cargo service is expected to attract logistics players and open new opportunities for trade, reinforcing Jharsuguda’s role as a growing industrial and transportation center.
