E-commerce giant Amazon will continue to scale up automation and robotics across its operations in India while strengthening inventory management systems at its fulfilment centres, senior company executives said at the company’s Delivering the Future EMEA 2026 event in London.
Speaking at the event, Tye Brady said Amazon already deploys a range of advanced automation technologies across its Indian fulfilment network and intends to further increase investments in this area to enhance operational efficiency and customer service.
Amazon has invested approximately USD 40 billion in India to date and has committed an additional USD 35 billion investment by 2030, underscoring the country’s strategic importance in the company’s global growth plans.
Brady highlighted the deployment of Amazon’s SLAM (Scan, Label, Apply, Manifest) systems in India. The technology automates critical outbound logistics processes, including parcel scanning, shipment verification, label printing and application, and transmission of shipment data to delivery partners. The system is designed to improve speed, accuracy, and overall efficiency in order fulfilment and inventory management.
The company is also expanding the use of its next-generation autonomous mobile robot, Proteus, which assists employees with physically demanding tasks inside fulfilment centres. The technology is aimed at enhancing workplace safety while improving productivity and operational performance.
Amazon’s continued focus on automation and robotics is expected to play a key role in supporting the rapid growth of India’s e-commerce sector and strengthening the company’s logistics infrastructure across the country.
