CEVA Logistics and Lufthansa Cargo have transformed their earlier memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) into a binding long-term agreement, marking a major milestone in their joint sustainability journey. The agreement was officially signed on November 21 during CEVA Logistics’ Airfreight Annual Strategic Partners Council in Paris.

Under the deal, CEVA Logistics has committed to using SAF credited in 2025, enabling an estimated reduction of 8,000 tonnes of CO₂. The newly formalised framework agreement will run until the end of 2028, underscoring the companies’ long-standing partnership built on openness, continuous dialogue and mutual learning.

Loic Gay, Global Air & Ocean Products VP at CEVA Logistics, said the agreement is a significant stride toward decarbonising supply chains. “This enables us to measurably reduce our CO₂ emissions and make our supply chains more sustainable. It is particularly important to us to do this with a partner who is committed to maximum transparency, clear sustainability standards, and reliable certifications.”

Lufthansa Cargo echoed the sentiment, emphasising the strategic value of the collaboration. Anand Kulkarni, Head of Global Markets at Lufthansa Cargo, stated: “CEVA Logistics’ decision to make extensive use of SAF demonstrates its clear commitment to making an effective contribution to the decarbonisation of air freight. Climate protection requires strong partnerships and decisive action.”

The SAF to be used under the agreement is derived entirely from waste and residual materials, free of palm oil, and compliant with stringent international standards. Beyond the fuel commitment, the framework also paves the way for deeper cooperation in SAF-related initiatives and future sustainability measures.

This latest development adds to a broader sustainability partnership between CEVA Logistics and Lufthansa Cargo, which already includes knowledge exchange, circular economy programmes, and joint innovation and research efforts aimed at reducing environmental impact across the air cargo ecosystem.
