    Goa-based Chowgule and Company’s Shipbuilding Division (SBD) has successfully conducted the keel laying ceremony of Hull C 298, “SKRETTING ELIN”, the sixth vessel in a series of 6,000 DWT Multi Purpose Dry Cargo Vessels being built for Dutch shipping company Vertom.

    The ceremony was held at Chowgule’s Loutolim Shipyard in Goa, signalling a strong start to 2026 and marking a key construction milestone for the diesel-electric propulsion vessel designed for enhanced fuel efficiency and reduced environmental impact.

    The event was attended by representatives from Vertom, Strand Shipping, Skretting, Kuehne + Nagel, and classification society Bureau Veritas, along with senior officials from Chowgule SBD and other invited guests.

    With the keel laying of SKRETTING ELIN, Chowgule SBD moves closer to the successful completion of the entire six-vessel series, reaffirming its capability to deliver technologically advanced and environmentally responsible ships for the global maritime market.
