Haldia Dock Complex (HDC), part of Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata (SMPK), has welcomed the first train under CJ Darcl Logistics Limited’s newly launched Container Train Service – Yarn Express, linking Ludhiana in Punjab to Haldia in West Bengal.

The inaugural train departed from ICD Ghungrana, Ahmedgarh (Ludhiana) on 28th February, 2026, and reached Haldia Dock Complex on 5th March, 2026. The containers carried by the train are scheduled to be loaded onto the Chittagong feeder operated by CJ Darcl shortly.

The introduction of this train-feeder service is expected to provide a reliable, time-sensitive logistics solution for yarn exporters, while further establishing Haldia as a major hub for containerized trade on India’s East Coast.

CJ Darcl’s Yarn Express highlights the growing importance of integrated rail-sea connectivity in India’s export supply chains, offering exporters faster and more efficient movement of goods from the manufacturing heartlands of Punjab to the eastern ports.
