Dakshin Bharat Gateway Terminal (DBGT) has achieved a major milestone in cargo handling operations at V.O. Chidambaranar Port, Tuticorin, successfully handling and delivering 168 Out of Gauge (OOG) TEUs from the vessel M.V. Sprinter on 6 June 2026, with all containers delivered on the same day.
The achievement marks the highest volume of OOG cargo ever handled by a container vessel in the history of VOC Port, underscoring the terminal’s growing capability in managing project and oversized cargo efficiently.
The new record surpasses the previous benchmark of 126 OOG TEUs, which was set on 13 August 2023 by the vessel M.V. Xin Tai Cang.
M.V. Sprinter called at Tuticorin as part of its port rotation covering Qinzhou, Yangpu Xiaochantan Port, Tuticorin, Chennai and Guangzhou, facilitating the movement of large and specialized cargo across key Asian trade routes.
DBGT attributed the achievement to the coordinated efforts of its operations team, emphasizing the importance of meticulous planning, operational efficiency and adherence to safety standards in handling oversized cargo consignments.
The terminal also acknowledged the support of customers, stakeholders, vessel operators and logistics partners in accomplishing the record-breaking operation. The milestone further strengthens Tuticorin’s position as a key gateway for project and OOG cargo in India, while highlighting DBGT’s capability to handle increasingly complex cargo requirements.
With the latest achievement, DBGT continues to set new benchmarks in OOG cargo handling and reinforces its commitment to delivering reliable and efficient port services.
