In a major boost to India’s freight transportation ecosystem, the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL) has successfully operated the first Double Stack Container Train from Jawaharlal Nehru Port on the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC).

The milestone marks a significant step in enhancing multimodal logistics efficiency and demonstrates the seamless integration of India’s largest container port with the fully operational WDFC. The initiative is expected to improve cargo movement, increase carrying capacity, reduce transit times, and strengthen supply chain competitiveness.

DFCCIL stated that the achievement goes beyond an operational success, reflecting the realization of a modern, sustainable, and future-ready freight transportation network envisioned for the country.

The successful movement of the double-stack train underscores the growing capability of dedicated freight corridors to support higher cargo volumes while promoting greener and more efficient logistics solutions across India.
