DHL Express has added more than 300 tonnes of weekly air cargo capacity from Hanoi, strengthening Vietnam’s connectivity to major global markets as demand for technology-related exports continues to rise. The additional flights operate six days a week, linking Vietnam with North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
The move comes as DHL Express reports double-digit growth in tech shipment exports from Hanoi in the first half of 2025. The company has deployed Boeing 777 and Airbus A330 freighters to carry the increased loads via Hong Kong.
Peter Bardens, Senior Vice President for Network Operations & Aviation – Asia Pacific at DHL Express, said the expansion highlights Vietnam’s growing importance in global trade. “It has risen as a tech manufacturing powerhouse in recent years, especially in the northern region where Hanoi is seeing a boom in high-tech exports,” he said.
Vietnam’s information and communications technology industry is forecast to generate $169.3 billion in revenue in 2025, up 11.4% from 2024, with hardware and electronics exports expected to reach $148.5 billion. The DHL Trade Atlas 2025 predicts the country will rank among the top 30 globally for trade growth over the next five years.
DHL Express has been scaling up its operations in Vietnam to meet this demand, including the recent opening of its Hanoi Gateway facility near Noi Bai International Airport and a new service centre in the city. These investments underline the company’s long-term commitment to supporting Vietnam’s role as a global manufacturing hub.
