Fesco Transportation Group is expanding its global logistics footprint with the launch of a new container shipping service linking Cambodia and Russia, a strategic move aimed at strengthening trade connections between Southeast Asia and the Russian market.
Under the new service, containers are transported from the river port of Phnom Penh through inland waterways to Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh City, where FESCO operates a regional transshipment hub. From there, shipments are consolidated and loaded onto vessels on the company’s Vietnam-Russia direct line, heading to the Commercial Port of Vladivostok.
The route significantly shortens transit times — with sea legs taking around 12 days, and total intermodal delivery of the first Cambodia-to-Moscow shipment clocking about 32 days — offering shippers a competitive alternative to traditional transshipment through Southeast Asian ports.
Once cargo arrives in Vladivostok, FESCO can integrate it into its wider rail and logistics network for delivery to other Russian cities including Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk and Yekaterinburg, enhancing market access for both importers and exporters.
The service operates in both directions, enabling the export of Russian goods back to Cambodia using the same intermodal logistics chain. Initial cargo flows are expected to focus on light industrial goods and agricultural products, responding to growing demand and evolving trade cooperation between the two regions.
Industry analysts view this development as part of FESCO’s broader strategy to diversify its route network and capture emerging trade opportunities between Asian and Eurasian markets amid shifting global trade dynamics.
