In a major milestone for India’s defence and logistics ecosystem, Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Ministry of Defence, Government of India. The partnership aims to jointly develop smart technological solutions that strengthen national security.

The MoU was formalized in the presence of Dr. Samir V. Kamat, Chairman of DRDO and Secretary of Defence R&D, who emphasised the strategic significance of the collaboration.
“The collaboration is expected to facilitate the development of technological solutions for deployment aspects of indigenous defence systems,” Dr. Kamat stated.

Under the MoU, both institutions will collaborate on advanced research and development across multiple priority domains, including:

Logistics Management and Operational Logistics across tactical, operational and strategic levels

Analysis and validation of operational logistics plans

    Chip design and hardware security

    Homomorphic and blockchain-based encryption technologies

A central objective of the partnership is to build capacities among researchers and scientists in operational and military science, logistics management, and technical research. The two organisations will jointly conduct research projects, seminars, conferences, capacity-building programs, and roundtable workshops.

GSV already maintains strong academic and research linkages with all three wings of the Indian Armed Forces—Indian Army, Indian Air Force, and Indian Navy—particularly in the fields of logistics and supply chain. The new MoU with DRDO further strengthens the university’s value proposition, positioning it at the forefront of cutting-edge defence research in India.

This partnership marks a significant step toward fostering indigenous innovation and enhancing India’s self-reliance in defence technology and logistics excellence.
