The Gandhidham Chamber of Commerce & Industry (GCCI) has renewed its demand for establishing a full-fledged GST Appellate Tribunal (GSTAT) Bench in Kutch, following the commencement of GSTAT benches at Surat, Ahmedabad and Rajkot.
GCCI President Teja Kangad said Kutch, a major industrial, maritime and commercial hub contributing significantly to the state and national economy, deserves a dedicated GSTAT Bench for speedy and accessible resolution of tax disputes.
GCCI Secretary Mahesh Tirthani pointed out that businesses from Kutch currently have to travel nearly 300 km to Rajkot or 400 km to Ahmedabad for GST appeals, causing additional expenses, loss of working days and administrative difficulties.
The Chamber has urged Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and senior tax authorities to consider the long-pending demand, stating that a GSTAT Bench in Kutch would strengthen Ease of Doing Business and Ease of Compliance for taxpayers, trade and industry.
