On the eve of The Ocean Race Europe’s start, Hapag-Lloyd AG welcomed around 50 customers to an exclusive lunch event alongside celebrated skipper Boris Herrmann and his Team Malizia crew. The gathering, held in Kiel, set the tone for the race’s 2025 theme – “Connecting Europe” – a message that resonates strongly in today’s era of uncertainty and rapid change.

“Connections across oceans, borders, and between people are what drive progress,” said a Hapag-Lloyd spokesperson. “At Hapag-Lloyd, we are proud to play our part in fostering these connections every day.”

The event not only celebrated international cooperation but also highlighted shared values between Hapag-Lloyd and Team Malizia, including a commitment to ocean health and sustainability. Special thanks were extended to Boris Herrmann and his team for making the occasion possible and for being steadfast partners in raising awareness for marine conservation.

The Ocean Race Europe will see Team Malizia embark on a challenging 40+ day journey from Kiel to Boka Bay, with stopovers in Portsmouth, Porto, Cartagena, Nice, and Genoa. Hapag-Lloyd extended its best wishes to the crew for fair winds and success on their voyage.
