Hazira Port has achieved a historic milestone, handling 84,631 TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units) in January 2026 — the highest monthly container throughput in its history. The achievement surpasses the previous record of 78,357 TEUs, set in October 2025.
The record-breaking performance underscores the port’s continued focus on operational excellence, efficiency enhancement, and customer-centric service delivery. The steady growth in volumes also reflects strengthening trade momentum in western India, particularly from Gujarat’s robust industrial and manufacturing clusters.
Port officials attributed the achievement to streamlined terminal operations, enhanced vessel turnaround efficiency, improved hinterland connectivity, and close collaboration with shipping lines, logistics partners, and trade stakeholders. The January performance marks a significant step in reinforcing Hazira Port’s position as a key gateway for containerized cargo on India’s west coast.
Industry observers note that the surge in volumes aligns with increasing export-import activity across sectors such as chemicals, textiles, engineering goods, and project cargo, which are core contributors to the region’s trade ecosystem.
With infrastructure expansion initiatives and continuous process optimization underway, Hazira Port aims to further scale its capacity and strengthen service reliability in the coming months.
The new benchmark reflects the port’s sustained commitment to supporting regional economic growth and facilitating seamless global trade connectivity.
