India has stepped up crude oil imports from the United States and the United Arab Emirates, while shipments from Russia have declined, reflecting changing trade flows and refiners’ evolving sourcing strategies.
Industry data shows higher intake of US and Middle Eastern crude amid competitive pricing, improved availability and greater flexibility in grades suited to Indian refineries. At the same time, imports from Russia moderated as discounts narrowed and logistical factors influenced buying decisions.
Refiners said diversification of supply sources remains a key priority to manage price volatility and geopolitical risks. The shift also aligns with India’s efforts to balance long-term energy security with spot market opportunities.
Despite the change in sourcing patterns, Russia continues to remain a significant supplier to India, though its share has eased from recent highs. Overall crude imports remain stable , supported by steady domestic demand and refinery throughput.
