In a move aimed at strengthening trade facilitation for the gems and jewellery sector, India Post is set to introduce export-import (EXIM) services at the Bharat Diamond Bourse in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC).

The initiative is designed to provide seamless logistics and documentation support to traders operating within the country’s largest diamond trading hub. With this expansion, exporters and importers will be able to access international shipping, customs clearance assistance, and parcel handling services directly from the bourse premises, reducing turnaround time and operational costs.

Officials said the move aligns with India Post’s broader strategy to diversify its portfolio beyond traditional mail services and tap into the growing cross-border e-commerce and high-value cargo segments. The presence at the diamond bourse is expected to particularly benefit small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) engaged in global trade.

Industry stakeholders have welcomed the development, noting that proximity to reliable postal and logistics services will enhance efficiency and competitiveness in international markets. The new EXIM facility is also expected to ease compliance procedures and improve shipment traceability for high-value consignments such as polished diamonds and jewellery.

The rollout at BKC is likely to serve as a pilot, with similar services expected to be extended to other major trade clusters across the country in the future.
