The Karnataka Maritime Board (KMB) has executed a Concession Agreement with M/s AHPL SPM Logistic Solutions Pvt. Ltd. for the operation of a berth at Karwar Port under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model on a Rehabilitate, Operate, Maintain and Transfer (ROMT) basis.

The transaction was advised by Black Brix®️, which structured and facilitated the concession process. According to the company, the project secured a royalty of ₹212 per metric tonne, making it one of the highest royalty rates achieved for a port PPP project in the country.

Under the agreement, the concessionaire will provide a Minimum Guaranteed Annual Royalty (MGAR) of ₹26.5 crore to the Karnataka Maritime Board, ensuring a steady revenue stream for the state while promoting private sector participation in port infrastructure and operations.

The project is expected to enhance the operational efficiency of Karwar Port, improve cargo handling capabilities, and support the Karnataka government’s efforts to strengthen the state’s maritime infrastructure through PPP-led development.

The concession marks another significant step in expanding private investment in India’s port sector while reinforcing Karnataka’s focus on developing modern and efficient port facilities.
