The Indian Ports Association is preparing to float a tender to select technology partners for a pilot project at Cochin Port. The initiative is expected to be funded through the association’s internal budget, with the results potentially guiding the adoption of similar systems at other major Indian ports.

The project could improve passenger processing efficiency, reduce congestion at immigration counters and support cruise tourism growth under the government’s Cruise Bharat Mission, which aims to increase annual cruise passenger traffic to one million by FY 2029.

The initiative highlights the growing role of artificial intelligence in modernising port operations and strengthening India’s cruise tourism infrastructure.
