An Indian container terminal operator has secured two Konecranes rail-mounted gantry cranes for its new greenfield terminal, deepening equipment commitments after an earlier order for 30 Konecranes rubber-tired gantry cranes for the same site, according to the company’s corporate release.
The RMG order was recorded in the fourth quarter of 2025, with delivery and commissioning targeted by the end of the second quarter of 2027.
The terminal is designed with rail handling built into yard operations, connecting its coastal location with inland markets.
The previously ordered RTGs are intended to form the core of yard stacking operations, while the two RMG cranes will handle loading and discharge duties for trains.
Each RMG crane will be fitted with a twin-lift spreader and a rotating trolley to achieve precise container positioning during rail moves.
Active Load Control systems will mitigate container sway, enhancing placement accuracy and supporting safe material handling as rail container flows are synchronised with yard stacks.
