Global logistics provider Kuehne+Nagel has expanded its own-controlled air freight network by adding Frankfurt to the rotation of its Inspire freighter service, strengthening cargo connectivity between North America, Europe, and Asia.
The move enhances access to one of the world’s leading air cargo gateways. Frankfurt Airport handles approximately 2 million tonnes of freight annually and serves as a key hub for high-value, pharmaceutical, and time-sensitive shipments.
Under the revised weekly rotation, the Inspire service now operates from Chicago to Frankfurt before continuing to Atlanta, establishing a direct air cargo link between two major pharmaceutical manufacturing and distribution centres. The enhanced route is expected to improve the movement of healthcare products and other critical cargo requiring reliable transit schedules.
Inspire is Kuehne+Nagel’s dedicated Boeing 747-8 freighter operation, flown under a long-term charter agreement with Atlas Air. With a payload capacity of around 140 tonnes, the Boeing 747-8F is the largest cargo aircraft produced by Boeing and is designed to transport complex, oversized, and high-value shipments across major global trade lanes.
Effective June 2026, the updated Inspire rotation links Atlanta, Chicago, Frankfurt, Liege, Sharjah and Taipei, providing improved connectivity across key transatlantic and Asia-Europe trade corridors.
The service caters to industries that depend on speed, reliability and capacity, including pharmaceuticals, aerospace, semiconductors, high-tech manufacturing and cloud infrastructure.

Kuehne+Nagel continues to expand its portfolio of own-controlled air freight capacity, which now comprises more than 100 charter connections per week worldwide. Through its gateway model and scalable network, the company aims to deliver enhanced reliability, faster transit times and greater flexibility in response to evolving trade patterns and customer requirements.
