The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) has granted a unified maritime agency licence to global container carrier Pacific International Lines (PIL), officially recognising the company as an authorised foreign investor to operate maritime agency services across the Kingdom’s ports.
Issued in accordance with the Maritime Agency Services Regulations, the licence underscores Mawani’s commitment to strengthening the efficiency and competitiveness of Saudi Arabia’s maritime sector. The move is designed to enhance operational service quality at ports, attract international expertise, and facilitate knowledge transfer in line with global best practices in maritime transport.
According to a report by Saudi Press Agency, the initiative forms part of Mawani’s broader strategy to develop a dynamic maritime business environment and enable international companies to expand investments in the Saudi market.
PIL, which operates in 29 countries and has established its regional headquarters in Riyadh, will now be able to directly manage maritime agency operations across Saudi ports under the unified framework.
The development aligns with the Kingdom’s National Transport and Logistics Strategy, which aims to position Saudi Arabia as a leading global logistics hub connecting Asia, Europe, and Africa. By facilitating greater participation from major international shipping lines, Mawani continues to reinforce Saudi Arabia’s strategic role as a vital trade gateway linking three continents.
