Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) has launched a 1 million square metre truck staging area at Jeddah Islamic Port, aimed at improving cargo movement efficiency and reducing congestion at port gates.

The facility is designed to handle up to 40,000 trucks per day and accommodate around 2,700 trucks simultaneously, significantly enhancing logistics capacity at one of the kingdom’s busiest ports.

Equipped with smart truck flow management systems, designated waiting zones, and driver support services, the staging area is expected to streamline entry and exit processes, reducing waiting times and improving turnaround efficiency.

The project has been developed in collaboration with key entities, including the General Authority for Roads and other partners, as part of Saudi Arabia’s broader push to modernize logistics infrastructure and strengthen supply chains.

Officials noted that the initiative will facilitate smoother export, import, and transit operations, reinforcing the port’s role as a major gateway for regional and international trade.
