Exports through Nigerian ports have recorded an extraordinary 1,085% surge despite ongoing global shipping disruptions, according to APM Terminals.
The sharp increase highlights the resilience of Nigeria’s export sector, driven by stronger outbound shipments of commodities and improved port operations. The growth comes at a time when global logistics networks continue to face challenges from geopolitical tensions and route diversions.
APM Terminals attributed the surge to enhanced efficiency at port facilities, better cargo handling processes, and increased focus on export-oriented trade. Efforts to streamline documentation and reduce turnaround times have also contributed to the rise in export volumes.
Industry observers note that the development reflects a broader shift toward boosting non-oil exports, as Nigeria seeks to diversify its economy and reduce dependence on crude oil revenues.
Despite persistent disruptions in global shipping, Nigerian ports have managed to maintain steady cargo flows, signaling improved operational resilience and adaptability in a challenging trade environment.
