The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) and MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen collaboration in maritime decarbonisation, digitalisation, innovation, and workforce development.
The MOU was signed on May 25, 2026, by MPA Chief Executive Mr. Wee Keong Ang and MSC Chief Executive Officer Mr. Soren Toft.
Under the agreement, MPA and MSC will explore new shipping routes and services to enhance maritime connectivity while supporting the adoption of alternative marine fuels, including bio-LNG. The partnership will also focus on advancing technologies aimed at improving vessel energy efficiency and operational performance.
In the area of digitalisation, both parties will work on initiatives to streamline vessel arrivals and port operations, contributing to greater efficiency across the maritime sector.
The collaboration also includes efforts to develop future maritime talent. MSC will support internship and scholarship opportunities through MaritimeONE Singapore and MPA’s Global Internship Award programme, helping to build a skilled workforce for the industry.
The MOU underscores MSC’s long-standing commitment to Singapore and the region, where the company established its first Asia office three decades ago.
