Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has introduced a new Asia–Türkiye shipping service aimed at supporting cargo movement to Iraq, offering shippers an alternative logistics route amid ongoing disruptions in regional trade corridors.

The service will connect major Asian ports with key Turkish gateways, allowing cargo destined for Iraq to be transported via Türkiye and then moved inland through established road and intermodal networks. The initiative is designed to provide greater flexibility and continuity for shipments bound for the Iraqi market.

MSC said the new option will help customers maintain supply chain stability by offering reliable transit routes and reducing dependency on traditional shipping corridors that may be affected by geopolitical tensions in West Asia. The service is expected to handle a range of containerized cargo, including consumer goods, industrial products, and construction materials.

Industry analysts note that alternative routing solutions such as the Asia–Türkiye link are becoming increasingly important as shipping lines adapt to shifting geopolitical risks and evolving trade flows across the Middle East and surrounding regions.
