Under the leadership of Dr. A. V. Ramana, Chairman, New Mangalore Port Authority (NMPA) and Nodal Officer, NAVIC Cell No. 23 for Automation & Technology, the NMPA today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (NTCPWC) to establish a Port Automation Unit (PAU).

The collaboration aims to accelerate smart automation, vendor empanelment, and the adoption of innovative technologies across India’s major ports. The initiative is a key step towards realizing the goals of the Maritime India Vision 2030 and the Amrit Kaal Vision 2047, promoting efficiency, sustainability, and digital transformation in port operations.

The Port Automation Unit will serve as a technology hub, fostering research-driven solutions and enabling seamless integration of digital tools in port processes—paving the way for smarter, future-ready Indian ports.
