Mexico’s Port of Manzanillo has achieved a major container handling milestone, moving 2.07 million TEUs during the first half of the year. The strong performance highlights the port’s growing importance as a key gateway for international trade and a major logistics hub on Mexico’s Pacific coast.

The increase in container throughput was supported by steady trade activity, strong import and export flows, and continued demand for maritime connectivity with major global markets, particularly across Asia and the Americas. The port’s strategic location and expanding infrastructure have helped it attract higher cargo volumes.

Manzanillo remains one of Mexico’s busiest container ports, handling a wide range of cargo including consumer goods, industrial products, automotive components and agricultural commodities. Investments in terminal capacity, equipment and operational efficiency have supported its ability to manage rising container volumes.

Port authorities and industry stakeholders continue to focus on improving logistics performance, reducing congestion risks and strengthening connections with inland transportation networks. The latest H1 performance reinforces Manzanillo’s role in supporting Mexico’s trade growth and regional supply chain development.

With global shipping patterns continuing to evolve, the Port of Manzanillo is expected to remain a critical hub for containerised trade, offering connectivity for businesses seeking efficient access to international markets.
