State-run engineering consultancy firm RITES Limited has secured an upward revision in its contract with National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), increasing the total project value to ₹118.89 crore (excluding GST) from the earlier ₹79.73 crore.

The contract pertains to detailed engineering and project management consultancy (PMC) services for the construction of a railway siding at Sankerjang, part of Phase I of the Utkal-D coal mines project.

    Scope and execution
RITES is executing the project on a cost-plus turnkey basis under a deposit mode arrangement. The scope includes detailed engineering and consultancy support for developing railway infrastructure to facilitate coal evacuation from the mining site.

The company had originally received the letter of award (LoA) for the project on March 31, 2021. The latest amendment revises only the financial terms of the contract, with no changes to its scope or execution structure.

The project remains under implementation, and no specific completion timeline has been disclosed in the latest update.
