Titagarh Rail Systems and Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) have entered into a joint venture to undertake maintenance of Vande Bharat Express trains, strengthening support infrastructure for the country’s flagship rail service.

The partnership aims to provide comprehensive maintenance solutions, including servicing, repairs, and lifecycle management of the Vande Bharat fleet. The initiative is expected to enhance operational reliability and ensure higher uptime for the trains.

Officials said the joint venture will leverage the technical expertise and manufacturing capabilities of both companies. While Titagarh brings experience in rolling stock production, BHEL contributes engineering strength and infrastructure support, creating a robust framework for maintenance operations.

The move aligns with Indian Railways’ focus on modernizing its passenger fleet and ensuring world-class service standards. Efficient upkeep of Vande Bharat trains is seen as critical to sustaining performance, safety, and passenger satisfaction.

Industry observers note that as the Vande Bharat network expands, the need for dedicated maintenance ecosystems will grow significantly. The JV is expected to play a key role in supporting this expansion by delivering timely and efficient services.

The collaboration reflects a broader push to strengthen domestic capabilities in rail infrastructure and maintenance, supporting India’s ambitions to scale up high-speed and semi-high-speed rail operations.
