Taiwanese liner operator TS Lines has placed an order for two 11,000-TEU containerships at Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS), expanding its fleet renewal and expansion programme with a $246 million investment.

The Hong Kong-listed carrier has contracted the two vessels at $123 million each from the China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC)-controlled shipyard, in partnership with China Shipbuilding Trading.

According to a filing with the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, the vessels are scheduled for delivery in 2030. The investment will be financed through the company’s internal resources and bank borrowings.

The latest contract adds to TS Lines’ growing newbuilding portfolio across Chinese shipyards, covering both feeder vessels and larger container tonnage as the carrier strengthens its fleet capacity.

In March 2026, TS Lines placed an order for four 2,900-TEU containerships at Fujian Mawei Shipyard for a total of $168.6 million, with deliveries scheduled by May 2029. The order followed an earlier contract for two vessels at the same yard in November 2025, bringing the series to six ships.

TS Lines has also been expanding its larger-vessel fleet through previous contracts at Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding, including two 14,000-TEU methanol dual-fuel containerships and two 7,092-TEU vessels.

Founded in 2001, TS Lines primarily operates across intra-Asia shipping trades. At the end of June 2026, the company’s fleet comprised 47 vessels with a combined capacity of nearly 140,000 TEU, including both owned and chartered tonnage.

The latest order underscores TS Lines’ continued investment in fleet expansion and modernisation, positioning the carrier to strengthen its presence in the competitive Asian container shipping market.
