V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority (VOCPA) has further strengthened its operational efficiency through collaborative infrastructure enhancements aimed at improving fertilizer cargo handling and reducing vessel detention time.

During the month, the port successfully dispatched 86,000 metric tonnes (MT) of fertilizer with significantly lower detention charges, following the installation of six fertilizer bagging machines. The new equipment has streamlined cargo handling operations, enabling faster bagging, evacuation, and turnaround of fertilizer consignments.

Building on this achievement, the Port Authority has announced plans to install four additional fertilizer bagging machines over the next three months. The expansion is expected to further enhance handling capacity, improve productivity, and support the growing demand for fertilizer cargo movement through the port.

V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority acknowledged the proactive investments and strong partnership of its stakeholders in driving these improvements. The Port Authority expressed appreciation for their continued commitment to enhancing operational excellence and creating a more efficient cargo handling ecosystem.

The latest infrastructure upgrades are part of the port’s ongoing efforts to improve turnaround time, reduce logistics costs, and strengthen its position as one of India’s leading gateways for bulk and container cargo.
