The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) organised the 7th edition of the Road Safety Awards and Symposium 2025 in New Delhi, which saw active participation from trade representatives, government officials, and industry leaders. The All India Transporters Welfare Association (AITWA) joined the event as an associate partner.

During a panel discussion, AITWA National President Mr. Ashok Goyal raised pressing issues concerning the road transport sector. He highlighted the urgent need for improved amenities along highways and lauded the Ministry of Petroleum’s Apna Ghar initiative at petrol pumps, calling for such facilities every 100 km to support drivers and transporters.

Mr. Goyal also pointed to inefficiencies in loading and unloading practices, stressing that trucks are often misused as temporary storage by companies, leaving them idle for days. He urged factories and warehouses to track and reduce vehicle turnaround time, noting that such inefficiencies inflate logistics costs and underutilize vital national assets.

His remarks resonated strongly with participants, with several attendees pledging to instruct their logistics teams to review existing practices and implement improvements in line with the concerns raised.
