J M Baxi Ports & Logistics has commenced a dedicated container train service for M/s. Aarti Steels Ltd., Ghantikhal (Odisha), is further advancing its commitment to sustainable and efficient logistics solutions.

The service was inaugurated on September 26 with the maiden rake moving from Visakha Container Terminal to the Aarti Steel Plant. The first train carried 72 TEU of Hapag Lloyd containers and 18 TEU of CMA CGM containers.

The initiative replaces nearly 200 loaded TEU that were earlier transported by road, shifting them to J M Baxi’s eco-friendly container trains. Covering a one-way distance of 480 km, the move is expected to significantly cut the carbon footprint of cargo movement in the corridor.

According to J.M. Baxi, the modal shift from road to rail is expected to reduce emissions by 1,419.9 tCO₂e, underscoring the company’s focus on decarbonizing logistics and supporting India’s sustainability goals.

“This partnership with Aarti Steels Ltd. not only enhances supply chain efficiency but also creates a positive environmental impact. Together, we are taking a bold step towards greener, more sustainable logistics,” the company said in a statement.
