V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority (VOC Port), Tuticorin, has achieved its highest-ever single-month handling of windmill blades, successfully managing 834 blades in December 2025, setting a new benchmark in renewable energy logistics. This surpasses the earlier record of 654 blades handled in October 2025, reflecting a significant operational leap.

The milestone underscores the port’s growing importance as a key logistics hub for India’s renewable energy sector. Handling windmill blades—classified as over-dimensional cargo—requires specialised infrastructure, meticulous planning, and seamless coordination among multiple stakeholders. The record performance demonstrates VOC Port’s robust cargo-handling capabilities, efficient yard management, and streamlined operational processes.

Port officials highlighted that sustained investments in infrastructure, skilled manpower, and improved mechanisation have enabled the port to cater effectively to the rising demand from the wind energy sector. The achievement also aligns with India’s broader transition towards clean and sustainable energy, with ports playing a critical role in enabling green supply chains.

With this record-breaking performance, V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority continues to strengthen its position as a preferred gateway for renewable energy cargo, reaffirming its commitment to operational excellence and green growth.
