    Senior officials of V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority met the Chief Secretary of Tamil Nadu to brief him on the progress of major infrastructure and green energy initiatives being undertaken by the port.

    Shri Susanta Kumar Purohit, IRSEE, Chairperson, and Shri Rajesh Soundararajan, IAS, Deputy Chairperson, called on Shri N. Muruganandam, IAS, Chief Secretary, Government of Tamil Nadu, at the Secretariat in Chennai.

    During the meeting, the Chairperson apprised the Chief Secretary of key ongoing and upcoming projects, including the proposed Outer Harbour, Green Hydrogen manufacturing facilities, Green Methanol bunkering, and other strategic developments aimed at enhancing the port’s capacity and sustainability.

    Discussions also focused on the requirement of additional land to support port-led industrialisation and the proposed development of shipbuilding infrastructure at Tuticorin, positioning the port as a major maritime and industrial hub in the region.

    The meeting underscored the importance of coordinated efforts between the port authority and the state government to accelerate infrastructure growth, promote green initiatives, and strengthen Tamil Nadu’s maritime economy.
