A high-level delegation from Denmark visited Deendayal Port Authority (DPA), Kandla, today, marking a significant step towards enhancing bilateral cooperation in the maritime and sustainability sectors.

The delegation was led by Ms. Josefine Pallesen, Maritime Counsellor at the Embassy of Denmark. During the visit, detailed discussions were held with Shri Sushil Kumar Singh, IRSME, Chairman, DPA, focusing on pathways to achieve zero-carbon emissions, adoption of green technologies, and collaborative opportunities for sustainable port development.

Chairman DPA apprised the delegation of the port’s forward-looking initiatives in decarbonisation, renewable energy integration, green fuels, and environmentally responsible operations. Shri Nilabhra Dasgupta, IRS, Deputy Chairman, and Shri J.K. Rathod, CPES, Chief Vigilance Officer, were also present during the deliberations and highlighted DPA’s ongoing efforts to promote innovation, resilience, and sustainability across port infrastructure and operations.

As part of the visit, the Danish delegation toured the Make-in-India 1 MW Green Hydrogen Plant at Kandla—a pioneering project that underscores DPA’s commitment to clean energy transition and its vision of emerging as a Green Hydrogen Hub.

Adding a cultural dimension to the engagement, the delegation participated in the Makar Sankranti/Uttarayan celebrations, enjoying traditional kite flying with DPA officials and employees at the Administrative Office Building, Gandhidham. The interaction offered the visitors a glimpse into India’s rich cultural heritage and warm hospitality.

The visit highlights the growing partnership between India and Denmark in the maritime sector, particularly in the areas of green ports, clean energy, and sustainable logistics, reinforcing Deendayal Port Authority’s resolve to develop a future-ready, environmentally responsible port aligned with global best practices.
