Freight operations on the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor remained safe and uninterrupted following the timely intervention of vigilant track workers who detected a critical rail defect during routine maintenance.

During inspections in the New Swarupganj (SRPD)–New Shri Amirgadh (SIMN) section, Sh. Mahendra Kumar Meena, Outsourced Keyman, along with Sh. Samrath Meena identified a rail fracture—a serious safety hazard that could have posed risks to passing freight trains.

Demonstrating exceptional alertness and adherence to safety protocols, the duo immediately reported the defect to concerned officials. Their prompt action enabled the swift imposition of speed restrictions, ensuring the safe passage of freight trains and preventing any potential damage to rolling stock or infrastructure.

In recognition of this exemplary commitment to safety, the General Manager/CO, DFCCIL, presented an Appreciation Letter to Sh. Mahendra Kumar Meena commended his dedication and sense of responsibility.

The incident highlights the critical role played by frontline track personnel—often the silent guardians of freight corridors—whose vigilance and professionalism form the backbone of safe and reliable freight movement.
