The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Shri Nitin Khamesra, currently Chief General Manager (CGM) at Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), as the new Director (Finance) of the Shipping Corporation of India Limited (SCI).
Khamesra’s appointment, effective from the date he assumes charge, is set for a tenure of five years or until further orders, according to the official order issued on January 31, 2026. The update has been disclosed by SCI in filings to the BSE and NSE under SEBI’s regulatory requirements.
SCI, a Government of India-owned maritime enterprise, plays a pivotal role in the country’s shipping and logistics network, offering a wide range of services spanning cargo transportation, fleet operations, and global maritime connectivity. Khamesra’s transition from a senior finance role at Indian Oil is expected to bring strong financial leadership as SCI navigates strategic priorities in a dynamic global shipping environment.
Industry observers say the decision underlines continued efforts to infuse experienced financial management into leadership roles within India’s public sector undertakings (PSUs), especially those critical to trade and transport infrastructure.
