Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), India’s largest container gateway by capacity, has recorded its highest-ever annual performance in FY2025–26, handling a total cargo volume of 102 million tonnes (MT) and 8.17 million TEUs.

This marks a strong growth of 10.74 per cent in overall cargo and 11.94 per cent in container traffic compared to FY2024–25, when the port handled 92.11 MT of cargo and 7.30 million TEUs.

Among the five container terminals operating at the port, Bharat Mumbai Container Terminals Pvt Ltd (BMCT), operated by PSA International, posted the highest growth of 18.36 per cent, handling 2.687 million TEUs in FY26, up from 2.27 million TEUs a year earlier—its best-ever annual performance since inception.

Gateway Terminals India Pvt Ltd (GTI), a joint venture between APM Terminals and Container Corporation of India Ltd, handled 2.232 million TEUs, registering a growth of 7.39 per cent and achieving its highest-ever yearly throughput.

Nhava Sheva International Container Terminal Pvt Ltd (NSICT), operated by DP World, recorded a throughput of 1.303 million TEUs, reflecting a growth of 7.92 per cent over FY25.

However, Nhava Sheva India Gateway Terminal Pvt Ltd (NSIGT), also run by DP World, saw a marginal decline of 4.07 per cent in volumes to 1.084 million TEUs in FY26 from 1.13 million TEUs in the previous year.

The record performance underscores JNPA’s continued growth momentum and its strategic importance as a key hub in India’s maritime trade.
