In a significant boost to India-Japan industrial cooperation, Maruti Suzuki has inaugurated its fourth vehicle manufacturing facility at Kharkhoda, Haryana. The landmark event was jointly led by Narendra Modi and Sanae Takaichi during the India-Japan Joint Economic Forum in New Delhi.
The Kharkhoda facility represents an investment of approximately ₹35,000 crore and is one of the largest automotive manufacturing projects in India. Once fully operational, the plant is expected to have an annual production capacity of 1 million vehicles, significantly strengthening Maruti Suzuki’s manufacturing capabilities while generating more than 21,000 direct employment opportunities.
Built with advanced Industry 5.0 technologies and sustainability-focused manufacturing practices, the new facility aligns with the Government of India’s ‘Make in India, Make for the World’ vision. The inauguration also underscores the deepening economic partnership between India and Japan, with both nations expanding collaboration across manufacturing, mobility, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and clean energy.
The Kharkhoda plant becomes Maruti Suzuki’s fourth vehicle manufacturing facility in India after Gurugram, Manesar, and Gujarat, marking another milestone in the company’s long-term growth strategy and India’s emergence as a global automotive manufacturing hub.
