The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) has signed seven contracts worth SAR1 billion (approximately $262 million) with leading national and international companies to develop and expand logistics centres at Jeddah Islamic Port and the Al Khumra Logistics Zone, strengthening the Kingdom’s ambition to become a global logistics hub.

The new logistics facilities will span more than 384,000 square metres, providing advanced storage, consolidation, and re-export capabilities to support the Kingdom’s rapidly growing trade volumes and improve supply chain efficiency.

According to Mawani, the projects are expected to generate more than 5,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities, while supporting the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 and the National Transport and Logistics Strategy.

With the latest agreements, the total number of logistics facilities established within Saudi ports has increased to 34, including 17 facilities at Jeddah Islamic Port. Overall investments in these logistics centres have now exceeded SAR14 billion, reflecting the Kingdom’s continued commitment to expanding its logistics and maritime infrastructure.

Among the agreements is a SAR40 million contract with Maersk to develop a 60,000-square-metre container yard, aimed at enhancing container handling capacity and operational efficiency at Jeddah Islamic Port.

The contracts were signed in the presence of Saleh Al Jasser, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Transport and Logistic Services, along with senior officials from Mawani.

Mawani said the new logistics ecosystem will be supported by advanced digital platforms to streamline business processes and enhance operational efficiency. The Al Khumra Logistics Zone’s strategic connectivity to Jeddah Islamic Port, King Abdulaziz International Airport, and the Kingdom’s major highway network is expected to further strengthen Saudi Arabia’s position as a leading logistics gateway connecting global trade routes across the Red Sea.
