Maersk has revised its Intermodal Fuel Fee in Italy, increasing the surcharge for truck transportation while also adjusting the rate applicable to rail container operations. The changes reflect continued volatility in global energy markets and will take effect in September 2026.

Under the revised tariff, the Export Fuel Surcharge (EFS) and Import Fuel Surcharge (IFS) for truck movements will be set at 16%. For RCO, the applicable EFS and IFS will be 8%.

For non-FMC-regulated shipments, the revised fees will apply to cargo with a Price Calculation Date (PCD) of September 1, 2026. For FMC-regulated shipments, the new rates will apply from a PCD of September 24, 2026.

The new percentages replace the rates previously communicated by Maersk and will remain subject to monthly review in line with developments in fuel and energy markets.

Maersk said continued energy-market volatility could result in further adjustments. The carrier said the revisions are intended to support service continuity, cargo integrity and sufficient capacity across its inland and intermodal network.

The latest adjustment follows several revisions to Italy’s intermodal fuel fees during 2026, highlighting the impact of changing fuel costs on European inland logistics operations.
